Golden Shore Design & Build is a family-owned remodeling company in San Diego, founded by husband-and-wife team Petra Rousso and Alex Kuenlin.
Together, they share a passion for thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and creating homes that reflect the people living in them.
With Petra’s creative approach to design and Alex’s extensive construction experience, they bring two important sides of remodeling together. Their goal is simple: to make the remodeling experience more personal, organized, and enjoyable while delivering beautiful results that homeowners can appreciate for years to come.
Petra’s interest in design began long before Golden Shore Design & Build.
She studied art and design in high school before continuing her education in business, where she earned her degree and received Dean’s List recognition for academic excellence. She later completed additional studies in interior design in the United States, bringing together her creative background and business knowledge.
For Petra, good design isn’t just about selecting beautiful materials or following the latest trends. It’s about understanding how people live, what matters to them, and how their homes can better support their everyday lives.
She genuinely enjoys getting to know her clients, hearing their ideas, and helping them explore possibilities they may not have considered.
Whether it’s finding the right layout, choosing materials, or working through the small details that make a space feel complete, Petra believes every decision should have a purpose.
Her favorite part of the process is seeing a client’s vision come together and knowing they feel comfortable, confident, and excited about their new space.
Alex brings decades of hands-on construction experience and a strong understanding of what it takes to turn a design into a well-built, lasting home.
As the licensed general contractor at Golden Shore Design & Build, he oversees construction with careful attention to workmanship, structural integrity, and the details that make a difference.
Alex takes pride in doing things properly, even when it involves work that will eventually be hidden behind walls or beneath beautiful finishes. He knows that a successful remodel depends just as much on what you don’t see as what you do.
His practical experience, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality help guide each project from the early planning stages through completion.
