Our kitchen update we got is beyond what we dreamed possible on our budget. Golden crew maximized every inch of space while creating a warm, inviting atmosphere with the new quartz counters and soft-close drawers. Even the plumbing and electrical upgrades were done seamlessly. The entire process was smooth, and their designer helped us pick finishes that we’ll love for years to come.
I completed a whole house remodel that included flooring, two bathrooms, the kitchen and some structural updates. Naturally, we expected delays and miscommunication at some point, but the experience was smoother than we anticipated. The scheduling stayed fairly consistent and whenever there was an adjustment they explained it clearly instead of leaving us guessing. The finished work feels cohesive from room to room and several visitors have commented on how natural the transitions look throughout the home.

We chose Golden Shore Design and Build to do our master bathroom renovation after meeting with and getting quotes from five different contractors. We decided to go with them based on reviews of their previous work, the thorough and realistic explanation of how the work would be done, and also because their estimate for the work was actually lower than the others. We were dealing directly with the company owner, Alex, in getting the estimate and finalizing the contract details.
Alex provided a complimentary design concept rendering at the start and made good suggestions for the choice of materials and fixtures. It was a complete bathroom remodel (floor, walls, all fixtures, additional lighting, etc.). The work crew were polite and efficient. As with any home renovation there will be dust, however the guys were diligent in minimizing this as much as possible. Everything was done in just over two weeks, including the necessary city inspections (Alex took care of arranging those).
The bathroom came out looking beautiful, the tile work on the floor and in the tub area is gorgeous. Thankfully, no major issues cropped up when the floor and walls were opened up, and the guys devised a great solution to make the vanity fit perfectly in the slightly larger area (the original vanity was custom built during our condo's construction in 1988). Alex oversaw the progress of work with frequent job site visits and a final inspection. So, a positive experience and we now have a beautiful master bathroom. Would work with them again if another project comes up.

The 70/30 rule in interior design is a classic guideline for achieving visual balance in a space. It suggests that 70 percent of a room should feature a dominant color, pattern, or texture, while the remaining 30 percent should be used for a secondary accent. This principle helps create a cohesive look without overwhelming the eye. For example, if your walls and large furniture are a neutral tone, that represents the 70 percent. The 30 percent could then be introduced through vibrant throw pillows, an accent chair, or decorative art. At Golden Shore Design and Build, we often apply this rule to help clients in San Diego and Chula Vista create harmonious interiors that feel both intentional and inviting.
The cost of hiring an interior designer varies widely based on project scope, designer experience, and location. For a typical residential project in areas like San Diego, Chula Vista, National City, La Mesa and Spring Valley CA, you can expect to pay an hourly rate between 100 and 200 dollars, a flat fee for specific rooms, or a percentage of the total project cost, often 10 to 30 percent. A full-service designer may charge a retainer plus a markup on furnishings. For a clearer understanding of what to expect, we recommend reading our internal article titled Home Interior. This resource provides a detailed breakdown of fees and how to align your budget with professional services.
The 3-4-5 rule in interior design is a proportional guideline used to create visual harmony and balance in a space. It often refers to the rule of thirds, where elements are arranged in groups of three, four, or five to establish a natural flow and focal point. For example, when arranging furniture or decor, grouping items in odd numbers like three or five is more visually appealing than even numbers, as it encourages the eye to move around the composition. This principle can also apply to color schemes or pattern repetition. For a deeper understanding of applying these proportions effectively, you can refer to our internal article 'Home Interior' at Home Interior. Golden Shore Design and Build often incorporates such timeless rules to ensure balanced and inviting interiors for our clients in San Diego.
